Portlaoise, Dublin and Athlone to Host Drug and Alcohol Seminars in 2012/2013

The EAP Institute has announced that it will extend its very successful seminar ?Managing the Performance, Safety and Health Risks of Employee Drug and Alcohol Use? to Portlaoise in 2012, with Dublin and Athlone in 2013.
The first seminar will take place in the Heritage Hotel, Portlaoise on Thursday 14th June 2012. This will be followed on Thursday 28th February 2013 in the Ashling Hotel, Parkgate St. Dublin and on Thursday 23rd May 2013 in the Prince of Wales Hotel, Athlone. Speakers will include Maurice Quinlan, Director of the EAP Institute and Dr Mark Piper, Testing Services Toxicology Manager, Randox Laboratories.
The purpose of this seminar is to outline an approach that companies can implement, in managing the performance, safety and health risks of employee drug and alcohol abuse. The seminar will outline policies and procedures to manage the situation where an employee reports for, or is on duty, under the influence of an intoxicant to the extent that they may endanger themselves or others. The seminar will also outline the European Workplace Drug Testing Society (EWDTS) guidelines on legally defensible workplace drug testing.
Commenting on the launch of the seminars, the Director of the EAP Institute, Maurice Quinlan said Since the Irish Health and Safety Authority issued its information sheet many companies are now focussed on developing policies and procedures to address intoxicants in the workplace and a number of safety critical companies have introduced intoxicant testing.
