A series of seminars entitled "Drugs and Alcohol at Work - Complying with Section 13 of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005" will take place in Waterford at the Ramada Viking Hotel on Thursday 22nd January 2009, in Galway at the Courtyard by Marriot on Thursday 19th February 2009 and in Dublin at the Carlton Hotel, Dublin Airport on Thursday 12th March 2009, have been announced by Maurice Quinlan, Director of the EAP Institute and a speaker at the seminars.
Additional presenters will include John O'Sullivan, Business Development Manager and Dr. Niamh Cosgrave, Sales Director, Claymon Laboratories. The seminars, directed to Human Resource and Health and Safety Professionals will outline a comprehensive response to workplace drugs and alcohol.
With Directors and Managers now have personal responsibility for Health and Safety under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005, , every business should develop agreed policies and procedures to address this potentially contentious area. The links between employee drug and alcohol use, health, absenteeism, presenteeism, and poor work output are long established. The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) have indicated that regulations on employee drug testing will not be introduced. The HSA will issue guidance after a period of consultation with interested parties.
This seminar will outline policies and procedures which companies can implement to comply with The Safety, Health & Welfare at Work Act 2005. If you wish to reserve a place you may do so online at
