?Resilience is an essential management skill in today?s challenging economic environment?. This was stated by Maurice Quinlan, Director of the EAP Institute, Waterford, when he announced a series of seminars on this topic commencing in March 2010. The first seminar will take place in the Carlton Hotel, Dublin Airport on Thursday 4th March 2010 and will be repeated in the Clarion Hotel Suites, Ennis Road Limerick on Thursday 13th May 2010.
He went on: ?Stress is present in all areas of daily living including personal, family and work. There is pressure on managers to obtain increased results with lower costs and less people. Resilient managers thrive on adversity and excel during recessionary times. By confronting the pressures and challenges in a positive manner they turn problems into solutions and opportunities for business growth. Resilient Managers also work to maintain a work life balance, their physical and mental health, which in turn provides the personal energy required for a busy work environment?.
Concluding, Quinlan added: ?All managers will require development of personal resilience skills to meet adversities, which may include constant change. job uncertainty, and job loss. In their personal lives they may experience financial difficulties, house repossession, divorce and mental health problems. Developing new resilience skills will result in a healthier, engaged and committed workforce ?
A leading world expert on resilience, Susan Cruse, Director, Leadership Health and Sustainability, GlaxoSmithKline, UK will present at the Dublin seminar and Gill Thurgood of Empowerme2 who has over 20 years of experience in this area will present at the Limerick event.
